Oh what a lovely loft!

The builders may have gone, but in the fortnight before lockdown I had managed to paint the en-suite guest bedroom in the loft, plus the landing and stairs leading up to it.  Floor finishes (cork tiles in the toilet and carpet in the main room and on the stairs/landing) were fitted just days before lockdown began.

With the room painted and floor finishes in, I was able to start furnishing the room during the weeks and months which followed, ready for guests when it's safe again and at long last unpack boxes of books, toys and games and other such paraphernalia which had been stored since May 2018.

First up - painting and flooring:

Then the task of assembling flat pack furniture for storage:

A sheet of ply was attached to the back of one storage unit to make a bed head, a simple but effective solution:

more storage units were used to complete the foot of the bed:

and then it was time to unpack, get sorted out, put things away, add hooks and hangers and "dress" the room with artwork and soft furnishings:

Job well done, ready to receive guests when it's safe.  Or so I thought...
